State Library of Victoria
YLab partnered with State Library Victoria (SLV) to deeply embed co-design, persona mapping and community engagement skills within their libraries to create more inclusive spaces for the diverse communities they serve.
THE CHALLENGE
State Library Victoria (SLV) is committed to ensuring public libraries continue to be engaging and safe spaces for children and young people with diverse lived experiences and backgrounds. SLV were looking for ways to deeply embed co-design, persona mapping and community engagement skills within their libraries to create more inclusive libraries.
WHAT WE DID
YLab designed and facilitated a half-day capability building workshop for public libraries staff, with an emphasis on valuing diverse lived experiences, amplifying youth voices and creating culturally safe environments. Our Associate cohort also supported each library during the initial phases of their own co-design engagements, through coaching and recruitment support.
THE IMPACT
Libraries staff gained a general understanding of co-design and its positive impact on community and are confident using co-design and persona mapping in their own work. SLV have continued to engage YLab to provide hands-on support for co-design projects across their network.
